Our history

The Kaanbal Suut Program is an initiative created in 2021 by the Fondo Mexicano para la Conservación de la Naturalez, A.C. with the support of the Packard Foundation that arises with the interest of strengthening the organizations and networks of civil society in the Yucatan Peninsula to promote their success in advancing the impacts on the conservation and sustainability of natural resources in a sustainable way. strategic. Since 2022, the Program is operated by Sureste Sostenible, A.C.

What do we do?

The Program seeks to strengthen the capacities and leadership of civil society organizations for better nature conservation and sustainable use of natural resources at the regional level and strategically, through the combination of topics, approaches and learning methodologies. different.

Every year, 20 civil society organizations are selected to be part of the generation of the Program. The participating organizations are civil associations, alliances, collectives, cooperatives and networks. The course has an innovative design and part of the incorporation of the main social, economic, and environmental challenges faced by Mexican civil society organizations, particularly in the Yucatan Peninsula from the impact of COVID-19.
